Skills Testing and Psychometric Assessment

Making a decision to recruit a new person into your business is a big investment. To ensure you are making the best decision you need to have accurate, objective and consistent information. Skills & psychometric testing available through the DMW Group offers you this invaluable information in regards to a current or potential employee.
Making informed decisions at each step of the recruitment cycle is more critical now than ever before. More and more research is providing information that highlights the consequences of poor decisions in recruitment.

WHY USE TESTING?
There are three primary and simple reasons for using formal testing during a recruitment process.

Firstly, there is the improved potential to select, in to your process, those candidates who are more likely to be able to do the job at hand and more likely to do the job very well. In setting your selection criteria and standards you can drive your target candidate population from the ’competent’ expectation up to the high performer banding.

Secondly, in using a structured process into which your preferred test instrument has been integrally  designed, (rather than added on), you will counter the subjectivity that frequently invades a selection process and final decision.
Thirdly, you provide yourself and your business with a stronger defence in the event that a disenchanted candidate decides to argue that they were treated unfairly during the recruitment process.

The DMW Group is able to offer clients a range of testing services.

SHL TESTING

DMW Group is accredited to administer and interpret a range of SHL testing instruments. Testing can be conducted under supervised conditions and there are occasions when this approach has advantages. Alternatively, through our online bureau request process, we are able to co-ordinate arrangements for these tests to be completed online.

SHL provides a range of ability based tests (verbal, numerical, logical reasoning etc) and the test results are reported against reasonably similar test populations. This means that if you are looking for a senior manager in a technical environment, test results for your applicants can be compared against people from similar experience and backgrounds.

The OPQ ((Occupational Personality Questionnaire) instrument has become a widely proclaimed test that evaluates an individual across 32 work related behavioural factors. The results are then massaged and interpreted to draw conclusions about how an individual will prefer to perform and behave in the workplace.

The MQ (Motivational Questionnaire) evaluates an individual from the perspective of workplace factors that the individual identifies as motivators or de-motivators. These insights can be considered against your organisational factors, environmental / cultural issues and internal dynamics to assess some aspects of fit to role and fit to organisation.

www.shl.com provides more comprehensive information.

Testing is becoming a vital component of all professional recruitment programs. Many companies are becoming more aware that the recruitment and selection component of business practice should no longer remain the cheap relative in identifying and managing people. The more comprehensive and selective recruitment processes are providing more immediate and real cost benefits in the workplace.

MORRISBY PROFILE

We are accredited to administer and interpret the Morrisby Profile, an instrument used to evaluate a range of work related abilities and to place those abilities into a vocational / occupational context. This provides us with the opportunity to understand, from an ability perspective, whether a person is likely to be effective when placed into a defined position. The profile also gives insights into some behavioural aspects of an individual’s performance and relationships in a work environment.

The Morrisby Profile provides insights to:

  • an individual’s intellectual strengths
  • the ability to work from first principles or to work from memory
  • occupational or vocational strengths
  • verbal, numerical and perceptual abilities
  • big picture vs. serialist bias
  • alertness to their environment
  • willingness and ability to change
  • emotional and intellectual confidence
  • manual speed and skill

www.morrisby.com is the website from which considerably more descriptive information is available. You can look at the format and content of tests and even do the practice examples for yourself.

The Morrisby Profile test session requires a dedicated three and a half hours of candidate time and reports can usually be available within 48 hours.
